Needing to replace the collar on a PTO Link® Coupler is not a common occurrence, unless the following has happened:
- The driveline became too long when adding the PTO Link® System because the measurement instructions were not followed.
- Therefore, the driveline was bottomed out, due to being too long, causing significant binding (bottoming out).
- The extreme pressure is forced in both directions, toward tractor and implement, and if the pressure is too severe, the driveline will “usually” become burred from the ball bearing digging into the spline (if that happens, watch video of removing stuck couplers HERE).
- In some very rare cases, the pressure placed on the ball bearings will cause the coupler’s collar to crack open (which is better than your tractor spline being pushed through the back of the tractor – not good).
We have only seen the collar crack due to those reasons. Therefore, it is ALWAYS best to get proper driveline measurement before installing the PTO Link® System (watch our video measurement guide HERE).
If your collar has become cracked, please call for the “replacement collar kit”. We have specific parts for each of the systems.
